[франц. global — всеобщий, от лат. globus — шар; лат. regulare — приводить в порядок, налаживать; греч. genos — род, происхождение]немногочисленные гены, продукты которых оказывают сильное влияние на интегративные метаболические пути в клетке; напр., у бактерий к Г.р.г. относится ген rpoS, который кодирует сигму S субъединицу РНК-полимеразы, играющую ключевую роль в регуляции транскрипции генов при переходе клеток в стационарную фазу роста и при различных стрессовых воздействиях. У кишечной палочки Escherichia coli обнаружено 7 Г.р.г. (ArcA, Crp, FIS, Fnr, IHF, Lrp и NarL), которые контролируют экспрессию около половины всех других генов этого микроорганизма.Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
